I don't have much stuff that I will be taking to Canada if my work permit is approved, so my plan is to ship these items via Fedex. Now since I'll be shipping them and paying duty and tax on them (because it'll be cheaper than having a rental company deliver them) will I have to still declare these items when I land in Canada? Will I still need to fill out that little form about them since I'll have already filled out a declaration form at the Fedex store before having them shipped?

Ok, I am not sure why you think that you would have to pay duty on your possessions if you are legally coming to Canada to work on a valid work permit.
