I too observed that...why is that so...a friend of mine saying that he made only 3 mistakes but got 6.5 as he expecting 8.5 in listening and same happened with reading he got only 6..My results are withheld i am really worried
I didn't take the exam in India. I took it in US this time. My family is still in India and my wife took it yesterday. Sorry if this thread is for the exams back home. I can still post if you want

paper leaked is typical Internet fear mongering. If the paper was leaked, then why hold the results of some and release the rest?
Let's just sit back, relax, and keep our fingers crossed as far as the marks are concerned.
I am a bit scared... I saw these unpredictable results... some even got 5.5 in writing... I mean a person who doesnt know english can get 5.5.. but people with such a good english getting these scores... and with listening people wrote same answers as we discussed in forum but got 6.5...
Trying to be optimistic now.....
All the Best!!!!
Writing marks are are a huge hit-miss in IELTS. How you perform on the day is what matters and let's just say content is a highly subjective matter (I write for a living).
I have written the IELTS previously (academic module; back in 2009) and I had scored 8+ in all except writing. I am not sure if it's the thing, but all of us generally write stuff these days on the computer. Everything is taken care of by the editor in terms of language and formatting. Not to mention, it's sort of easier to read through and fix what's broken.
I attempted the GMAT as well, and I had a 6 on 6 in AWA, which is far trickier than the IELTS writing section.

unless you have your friend's paper in front of you, you cannot say for sure that's the case. The missus writes alright, but her spellings and sentence structuring is horrendous. Helped a friend as well, same problem. Great ideas, poor execution.
