Hello everyone,
My IEC Visa is about to come to an end and I already applied for permanent residency through common law inland + Open work permit.
My question is, what's the best course of action now that my IEC is about to expire?
I know that implied status as a worker is NOT available for IEC, however is my understanding that it is valid as a tourist. My question, can I just not applied for a visitor visa after my IEC expires and wait to receive my open work permit (stopping working though?).
My consultant told me to do so, bearing in mind that if my application gets returned I will be automatically out of status.
What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance!
When did you send in your PR app?
If you have not received AOR by the time your IEC is set to expire, apply to change your conditions to visitor. That way, if your application is sent back, you will not be out of status. If you receive your AOR before your IEC expires then you can assume you have implied status (to stay, not to work)
she should be able to maintain the normal status given by a visa exempt country passport I think. You might have to get out and in again through a normal though
