My Fiancé is a US citizen and I am a Canadian citizen, once we are married I will sponsor him into Canada

My finance has a child and I won’t be sponsoring his dependent as a agreement with his child’s mother. Will this be an issue when going through the family sponsor process?

The child can be listed as a non-accompanying dependent. This means they will not be receiving a PR visa or moving to Canada.

However the child must still do an immigration medical exam, just in case the father will need to sponsor him sometime in the future (i.e. in case something happens to the mother).

Or the child may want to have the opportunity to go to school or move to Canada after they finish high school, who knows. Doing their medical exam now keeps this door open.
