hi Everyone,
I have some questions about the "humanitarian and compassionate ground" applicants. I have applied for my permanent residency in July under Canadian experienced class. Currently, my dad is on visitor visa status in Canada. I was wondering if after getting my PR i can apply for my dad's PR under the "humanitarian and compassionate ground" scheme as he is the only parent and i am the only child.
My question is -
1. Do I need to be PR before he can apply under "humanitarian and compassionate ground" scheme ?
2. Do i need to have certain income [For certain time period] as in "sponsorship scheme" before he can apply ?
1. Your father can apply for H&C now - however he will have an extremely weak case and will almost certainly be refused. I would strongly recommend he wait until you are officially a PR before he applies.
2. No.
Thanks for the reply.
I was wondering to make a strong case after getting my PR,
what additional documents [like other family ties in Canada] or any other documents that my dad can attach with his application to increase the likelihood of getting approved. What would you recommend ?
I assume that your father must be rather young given that you have only recently applied for PR. If he is in good health and can care for himself that will be an issue. If you have extended family in your home country that will also be a negative for your case. Canada has a program for parents to immigrate. Being an only child with one parent is not enough for H&C.
