The first stage of my application was approved on 30 April (wife was approved as my sponsor). My application has been at Ottawa ever since, and based on current processing times for this office, I estimate I may get COPR in October.
My questions is, how do CIC contact you confirm PR? Will they send me a letter in the post or will it be by email? What details will be in this communication?
If you have already landed, I would be interested in your advice.
They don't send an email with confirmation from visa excempt countries. If you didn't pay the Right Of PR fee they will email asking for it and that usually a good sign. If you did pay it up front check ECAS it will say In Process usually followed by Decision Made pretty quickly if approved.
If you check ecas you should be able to see "In Process" and eventually "Decision Made." That's generally a good sign that they will be sending out your CoPR shortly. Some call centre agents will be able to tell you if you were approved and if/when the CoPR was sent out AFTER "Decision Made" shows up, but it's extremely hit or miss, as they aren't really supposed to tell you anything.
