We submitted our application at the end of December (2014), and we haven't gotten anything from CIC at this point. All we know is that our application was received about a month ago. I should get my police check back from FBI next month. If we still haven't heard anything from CIC at that point, do I keep the FBI police check report with me until we get some number from CIC and then send in the police check referencing my CIC application number (or whatever the number is attached to my application) or should I send it to CIC hoping they can connect the dots and put my police report with my application?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Your report will only be valid for 90 days (from the issue date), so it is crucial that CIC receive it before then.

If you haven't received your `official' AOR email (sent to the sponsor) within 30 days of the expiry date, contact CIC and ask them to provide you with your file number, so that you can include that number when you mail them the PCC.

Thanks for the info, Ponga. I'm about to submit my PR application without the FBI check too. I'll need this later!

Are you submitting your PR inland? If you are, an up front police report or even medical test is not needed. One of the benefits of inland application. You can submit an application minus the two reports and have it submitted at a later date or when CiC ask you for it.

No, I'm submitting outland. I need the faster processing time and the ability to visit my family in the US during the processing. It seems like a lot of outland people are submitting their FBI checks later now though, due to the huge backlog at the FBI. I submitted my application for the police check at the beginning of November and they only just now took the money out of my credit card to process it. I hear it could be another 4-6 weeks before I have it in hand. :/

I guess that's why CIC is finally accepting FBI PCC's from third-party Channellers now...because of the FBI backlog.

Thank you very much for all the replies. I am applying outland also.

Panamai,

When I called FBI yesterday, he said they were now working on requests from 10/1-10/15. He said mine got checked in there on 10/27, so he told me to call back in 15 days.

Ponga,

I didn't realize they now accept fingerprints etc from the Channeler. If anything goes wrong with my FBI results directly from FBI (insufficient finger print ink or whatever), I guess I can always go to the channeler to cut the time but hopefully, the FBI one comes through fine.

I would like to know where you get this information that CIC is now accepting fbi report through channellers.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp

You can download the application form from the FBI website or send a request by mail (see Special notes and considerations for complete address).

There are two options:

Option 1: You must fill out the applicant information form and obtain a set of your fingerprints.

Option 2: You may submit the application to an FBI-approved channeler; a private company contracted to provide the certificate on behalf of the FBI. Processing times may vary. Please check the FBI website for a list of approved channelers.

Please mail your completed fingerprints card along with a certified cheque or money order for the applicable processing fees, payable to the U.S. Treasury (see Special notes and considerations for complete address).

The FBI or channeler will send you a letter with the results of your record check. That letter will be your police certificate. You should send the letter and any attached documents to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada office processing your file. All police certificates must be originals. Photocopies will not be accepted.

Really? That's crazy! No wonder it's taking so long. I called last week and they told me they were working on applications from the week of 10/27 then. ?? Seems like they may not know what is going on. I can only assume they are working on mine now (mailed it Nov 10) since they took my money. Have they taken your money yet?

Thank you for providing the info. I'm more informed. Thanks a lot.

If you paid for the FBI report via credit card, they will charge the card when they start their process.

LOL. Yeah, it's a bit crazy, isn't it. I don't think they were working on 10/27 yet last week - maybe they meant to say 9/27? Since they haven't started mine (which added to their system on 10/27) yet as of yesterday. I guess the good news is ours should be worked on very, very soon...

I paid by Money Order. I didn't want to use my credit card since I have had to change my credit numbers in the past due to fradulant charges and I was afraid something like that could make my payment decline when FBI was ready to charge my card.

You're welcome, but it's still pretty confusing:
