hello seniors,
i am new to this thread,i am planning land in canada in aug 2013.
i have a one year old driving license here in india, for getting canada driver licsence what doc's i bring from hare and what is procrdure to brin candian DL.
I have recently moved to Canada from Dubai. I didn't bring validation letter with me as I went to Pakistan after leaving UAE. Now when I cam here and called RTA office in Dubai, they told me I can print experience certificate and history letter online. I did that and sent to uae embassy in ottawa but they rejected saying they need:
1. Validation Letter from RTA
2. ORIGINAL experience letter signed and stamped from RTA.
What should I do? Ask any friend of mine to apply for these docs in UAE on my behalf? Can he do that?
Please advise!
thanks!
Muhammad

Sorry Binny,
I've no clue about that in India. But most RTAs should provide that... here [in Dubai] we go to the RTA main office.
-It costs AED 60/-
-and is called "Lesson Bayanat".
-Time to obtain it: 10 minutes.
-Docs required: Original D/license.

I Am from Oman and having DL of Oman since 9 years and my wife is driving in Oman since 1 year.
Where do we need to approach to get all relevant document to change our DL in Vancouver BC.
Does any one have any idea where to go in the police dept and what to tell them...
We tired all places we are not able to explain to them what we need.
Hi marchie, check with Traffic or Driving authority
You need to get experience certificate issued and signed by them
In dubai, RTA gives that letter
Secondly get international permit

Can anyone share driving rules book applicable in Ontario / Alberta, as in Pakistan we have right hand cars and we drive in the left lanes which is other way around in Canada. Would really appreciate help.

Does anyone from oman have take such letter...what is that letter commonly called in Arabic...I guess it has to be in Arabic and what will be the contents mentioned...
As far as I know there are no special restrictions for left hand drive countries. Canada had drivers license exchange agreements with a few countries and some of them are left hand drive countries such as the UK.
If your country doesn't have an exchange agreement, you have the option of bringing a drivers abstract from your home country to prove your driving experience and to be allowed to take the road test without the waiting time.
