Replacing US DL with a Canadian one.
Why would DMV in Canada withhold my US driving license? What's the reason? What are they going to do with my US driving license? Would they communicate with DMV in US? And about what??
It is not just a US licence that is surrendered, it happens for others.
You are only meant to hold a single licence.
Recently an immigrant was stopped in Ottawa, the police found that he was carrying two licences, one from Ontario, and another from his homeland (obtained by lying about a lost licence). The homeland licence was taken by the police, he was warned (no fine).

So does it means that obtaining a Canadian Licence with the RTA Letter from Dubai we have to surrender our Dubai Licence in Canada.
If yes do we ever get back this or gone for good?

I believe that the rules are that you are only allowed one license but some people I know have been able to keep theirs. I believe it depends on the person you are dealing with and if they are having a good day if they let you keep it or not.
I had to give up my old license to get one in AB. I knew people who were told that their foreign license would be mailed to the driving license authority in their homeland where they would be able to collect it again if they moved back but as they were going back, they checked on this and found that the licenses had not been mailed. Then they checked if they were being kept in AB somewhere and if they could do a switch but they were told no. Once AB takes your old license, it doesn't come back to you.
Still, if you go back to your homeland and say you need your license again, they would normally have it on record and it would not be a big deal to get it re-issued.

I came from Saudi Arabia (30/june/2011) with my D/L and 'Letter of Authentication' .in 4 July I have passed signs test(85 CAD) and on the spot applied for g2 road test ,officer told me that (I can take G1 road test or G2 road test as I like because my D/L issued before 24 months ).
After that I took 3hrs driving lesons with one of the driving instructor in driving school.in 28/July I have made an appointment for the road test(75 CAD) .THEN PASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSED IT

I managed to get a G1 license using my 6 years old abu dhabi certificate. They allowed me to take G road test (one chance) directly but I didn't took it yet as I have only 1 week off and needs to go back to abu dhabi.
My question is If i take the G road test during winter, will they be able to fail me as this is what I've heard because they will assume that I have no experience driving on snowy wet roads at all.
Is it advisable to wait until next summer to take the G?
