My husband is a naturalized Canadian citizen, I am a US citizen, our daughter who just turned 3 was born in the United States. Our daughter and I resides in US while my husband is working in Canada while I am in the process of petitioning him.
Now my question is can I apply for a Canadian passport for my daughter even though we live in US? If yes, how?
Now for my husband, once the petition for US residency is approved and he is granted a green card and move to the US will his canadian passport be revoked? If not, once he is eligible to apply for an American citizenship will his canadian citizenship be automatically revoked or can he be a dual citizen?
I read that with the approval of Bill C-24 all citizens born outside Canada (i.e. naturalized citizens) may lose their citizenship if the citizenship officer believes they do not intend to live in Canada or if they decide to move to another country to study or to work. I am not entirely sure I'm hoping that it's not :'(
