I am just about to begin a brand new job as Shift Manager at a fast food restaurant. I am brand new to the company so will have to be trained from the beginning, which will take about 2 months. I am going to activate my new IEC work permit the night before my first shift to make sure I get the full "at least 30 hours a week for 12 months". My question is; are these 2 months of training going to count?? Or will CIC say "ohhh, well you weren't an actual manager for 2 months out of 12. Agh!
-I'm just trying to be extra careful because I thought my last job was skilled enough but a lawyer told me it wasn't. This is the last IEC I am allowed....
Usually, a period of on-the-job training is still considered experience under the same job title/requirements. Unless your employer disagrees for some reason, it should count. Just out of curiosity, will the wage be the same during training as after?
the general labor rule is that you are paid at the same rate for any training required for the job unless otherwise stated in work contract....as long as your employed in that position it shouldn't have on impact on CEC
I agree with rohitoarxl and jes_ON. Training should count towards your CEC experience.
Just make sure that your employer mentions the period of training in the reference letter )
