hi there, whats going on
my work permit is gonna expire in a couple months, i would like to stay in canada but i dont wanna renew with my actual company, i would like to move to another province (im living in alberta and i would like to move to vancouver or winnipeg), so, in this case, what can i do? try to find another company in those cities? pay to some inmigration lawer and try to get a open work permit or what? im wondering because i want to stay in canada legal...
thanks a lot for your time and im gonna wait for your answers... bye! au revoir
You can check if you qualify to immigrate at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp but for right now, it might actually be better if you renew your work permit with your current employer and then quit because if you have a valid work permit, you can stay in Canada until it expires and look for another job. Once your work permit expires, you have no status in Canada. You can apply to change your status from worker to visitor but there is no guarantee that they would let you.
To move to another province, you will need to find a job there. The employer needs to apply for your LMO and you can then apply for a new work permit. You can pay an immigration lawyer but they will not be able to apply for anything for you that you can not do yourself. There are no open work permits except for post-grads, spouses and live-in caregivers who have done their 2 years.
