how much time to get new TRV visa stamp (got study permit renewed)

Hi All,

I am an international student here in Canada. I just got my study permit renewed. Now I need a new TRV stamp on my passport, so that I can travel outside Canada and come back. I know that we can apply (by post) for the new TRV from Canadian Embassy in Detroit. Any idea, how much time it takes to get the new TRV stamped on passport?

Thanks a lot for answer.

Just one more question that would help me a lot (as I have to travel back to home on an important matter) that after renewing my Study Permit, if I apply for a new TRV stamp/visa from a Canadian consulate in USA (while my Immigration case is already in process in Buffalo office), will I get a TRV visa/stamp easily or I will have to wait until my Immigration case is completed?
I have all the documents like letter of current enrollment from school, original transcript, bank statements, proof of funding etc.

Any advice regarding this would be appreciated.
