Congratulations to motorcycle rider, Robyn and zeushk.
Seems that in the last several months, the HK VO is moving fast. This may drive down exponentially the processing time for HK. This is a good thing for all of us, allowing us to be re-united quicker with our loved ones.
For sending in the passport we used dhl. They will have record of the people who signed for it. Further, it is a passport, so I don't want it somewhere in nomansland!
Just want to double check. When you mail the passport back you include the copy of the PPR letter and the address labels right? What do you write on the outside of the envelope? I just wrote the address of the HK office and my mailing address. Should I write the contents of what's inside or that it's a PPR package on the outside so when they get it they will know what it is right away. Just being a bit paranoid that they might just put it aside not knowing it's urgency or something.

YES. Our process is over. Received the COPR and the passport back! Hey, thanks to everybody who submitted their experiences... although reading everybody else's application makes me feel incompetent, unorganised, and have not done my homework prior to handing in our own application!
oh, one more note, i thought the reason for submitting the passport was so that a sticker or a stamp will be physically attached it. But I was wrong and I have no idea why they actually need the passport, perhaps to check if it was the real thing maybe? My wife's passport is from Hong Kong SAR, and as such, is visa-free for entry. So, in actual case, they just need to send us the COPR and she could enter using such.
Awesome, congrats your worries are over now. Must feel great to finally be done with it. BTW, when did they receive your passport? Just want to get an idea of how long it takes to get the passport back after HK receives it.
It was almost exactly 2 months after the passport request. although they did ask for some additional documents, which all together we sent back on Sept 18th. The date on the COPR was Nov 6 and we received it on November 7.
Congratz Zeushk and thanks for sharing the information with us!
Do u mind sharing how long did it take for u to apply for the police criminal check? On the HK Police website, they say it may take up to 4 weeks to process the application; yet CIC requires a reply within 30 days..So I am a little worried that my criminal record couldnt be sent on time..
Thanks Claudiakee, In actual fact, we don't get to see how long it takes for the HK police to send their criminal check, because they sent it directly to the Visa Office. However, I was told it was 2 weeks by the HK police office.
In my case, I got the passport request (29 Aug)after 10 days I got the police check request. But till now, I am still waiting for the approval....they said it is pending for admissibility review...

Thanks Zeushk. Did u apply the police check in Hong Kong or in Canada then? I have called the Hong Kong police office today and they say they are still working on it. it has passed the deadline CIC gave me, so I am very concerned right now.
