Ok so here i am, i am a commercial pilot (float/bush). The thing is the work is seasonal and therefore i am having a hard time qualifying for the '1 year continous full time work'. I have been in Canada for about 4 years, on a student visa, and now on a working holiday permit, and i want to apply for permanent residency. Also as far as education, can anyone tell me where training as a commercial pilot would fall into the categories (university degree's, etc etc). Also i heard there are exemptions made for flight instructors, and as air crew/pilot's are in the same noc category(2271), i hear they are fast-tracked for approval. Advice very welcome. Thanks.

Have you earned a degree in Canada? If so, you MIGhT qualify under the Canadian experience class if you can demonstrate the equivalent of 1 year of full time employment in the 2 years preceeding your application. (1950 hours)

If not you MIGHT qualify if you can demonstrate the equivalent of 2 years of employment in the 3 years preceeding the application date. (3900 hours).

Same would be true for anyone with the same NOC.

You can file for FSW as you are in Canada for more then 1 year as an international student.

Refer to the link : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp
1. According to the eligibility criteria, your application is eligible for processing if:

you have an offer of arranged employment, OR
you are a foreign national who has been living legally in Canada for one year as a temporary foreign worker or an international student, OR
you are a skilled worker who has at least one year of experience* in one or more of the occupations listed here.

Best of luck

The FSW3 class described by Rocky still requires 1 year (or the part-time equivalent) of continuous skilled employment in the past 10 years. It doesn't have to be in Canada -

Thanks very much for the replies. 1 Year continous employment, can it be accumulated from multiple and varying jobs, or just the one? (as long as it falls into the 0, A or B category). Thanks.
