HELP-Renew PR card with a different common-law partner

Hello Everyone,

My PR card expired around a year ago. I plan to renew my PR card since I plan to visit Canada soon.
According to the cic website. they count your days living outside Canada as the days living inside Canada if you have been living with a common-law-partner who is Canadian.

My question is the Canadian citizen you have been living with now has to be the original one that sponsored you when you first got your PR card?

As far as I know, there is no rule stating that it has to be the same spouse.
