I just recently got my PR card. I'm planning to go back to the Philippines to get married and to sponsor my future husband. The waiting period for the releasing of marriage license in the Philippines is 10 working days. However, I'll be arriving there less than 10 days before our wedding date. I was told to get an Affidavit of Cohabitation in lieu of the marriage contract. Is it advisable to get an Affidavit of Cohabitation instead of the marriage contract? Wouldn't the CIC think that we were common-law partners before I landed? Wouldn't that be a problem when the time comes to sponsor him? I'll appreciate all your feedbacks and comments.

1. Yes, CIC will think that you were common/law and didn't declare the C/law relationship. If they believe that, then they will refuse based on R179. Wait for the marriage certificate. The process is going to take at least 11 months, what is another 10 days?
