I applied to sponsor my parents in 2010. I just received a letter requesting additional information. The problem I have is, my Dad is the principal applicant and my mom is the spouse including two dependents. My problem is, my mom won't be accompanying my Dad again because I have another brother who is a sickle cell patient and constantly needs help so my mom can't leave him a lone back home. Bottom line is my mom will not be immigrating to Canada with my Dad. Will that cause a problem. Also, since my mom will not be immigrating to Canada, does she still need to submit copies of her passport and identification, and do medicals etc. Because getting a passport in my country is quite expensive and I don't want to waste money I don't have getting a passport that will not be used. Can my Dad migrates only with his two dependents? will that cause a problem? Thanks a lot for your reply.
Your mom must complete the medical and submit copies of her passport and identification - even if she is not coming to Canada. Your father's application cannot be approved without this information.
If the brother with sickle cell is also a dependent, presumably he will also need to be declared and a medical?
If that is the case, wouldn't he possibly be subject to the "excessive demand" provisions?
How old was your brother when the application was originally filed? This would be the "locked in" age for assessment as a dependent.

The mother and brother won't be coming ( if you read the OP - says she won't be accompanying ) since they know it won't work for the brother and can't be left alone

I know this.. However, if they are dependants, they still need to be declared as non-accompanying and medically examined. As I understand it, for this type of sponsorship, they must ALL pass the medical or the whole application will fail. Can you show otherwise?

Jeez, I didn't know that if the non-accompanying dependent is inadmissible due to meds, it makes the PA inadmissible as well - sad. But I remember reading in the parents forum long ago where some member didn't mention brother or something at all, isnt there some work around? declaration that individual would never be sponsored
If thats the case, then OP 's father cannot come either
