I called IRB offices today and was told that a decision was rendered last week Sep 12th and that I should receive it via Canada Post within a week or two. So it took right about 8 months for us to get it.. I wonder if IRB has a time frame to render their decisions as someone pointed out on this forum before e.g. 8 months. Just my two cents in case someone else has waited longer that 7 months as we did.

Nobody is the in the office so no point in calling. You only filed your asylum claim in October and hearings stopped in March. Even expedited process for less complex cases usually takes 6-12 months for a hearing without covid. 6 months is pretty unusual. Contacting IRB usually only leads to being told you need to wait and will be contacted. In a positive note most asylum seekers that aren’t considered expedited cases Are waiting 12 months-3+ years for hearings. Some cases that were in the pipeline before the less complex case approval process was created waited 3+ years for a hearing. Although it must be tough had you not done research about the long waiting times before coming to Canada and claiming asylum?
When was your hearing?? And where you told about if it was a yes or no?
My hearing was on e 20th of nov 2019 ,at e end of hearing I was only told by e judge that my claim was accepted.
