i am from the uk and have been here for 2 and a half years! i am stil on a visitor visa (long story) and currently processing my common law sponsorship.
i have looked into different health care programmes and because we are not pr or citizens, it seems to be so expensive to do it from canada. If you find out any thing on this let me know.
the fact you are covered at all is a really good thing, as its very costly if you have any issues.
You better check the terms and conditions of your credit card travel insurance. Most cards with built-in insurance, only cover you for a maximum time of around 3 weeks, and after that you are not covered under your credit card anymore for travel emergency. I've never heard of a credit card giving coverage for 90 days.
I would prefer a Canadian Insurance company and would prefer year-long coverage, with monthly payments, if possible.
You can check and compare rates from several Canadian companies for travel health insurance here, for visitors to Canada. You can choose any number of months for plan duration: http://www.kanetix.ca/travel-visitors-to-canada
You are most welcome Benni. The kanetix site is authentic and does a comparison of many vendors. Just make sure when you pick one, or as you are deciding, you call them and ask them the "relevant to you" questions about their policies. As always, the buyer has to do their own due diligence and I find it is always helpful to do a walkthrough over the phone when purchasing anything online. If you find something useful, come back and share the details with the rest of us ! Blessings.
Does anyone have suggestions for cover while in Quebec? That site comes back with the message that they have nobody offering coverage for QC at this time.
