i landed a few weeks ago, but im still waiting to receive my PR card. I was hoping to take a road trip to the US this weekend. Does anyone know if ill have problems getting back into Canada without it. I have the document the immigration officer attached to my passport when i landed (which he told me was confirmation of my PR status while i wait for the actual PR card), but it says "not valid for travel" on it
Are you a US citizen? Usually the lack of a PR card is not a problem if you cross in a personal vehicle. If you cross by plane or bus it might be a problem. Allison
Hi Allison,
no im Irish - i never have a problem getting into the US before and when coming back to Canada as a visitor theyve barely glanced at my passport. But knowing my luck, this would be the one time they decide to ask me a few questions and im worried about what would happen with no PR card
Since you are visa exempt and traveling by car, you will not have a problem. Hand over your passport and your COPR and just explain that you have not received your card yet. They will have no reason to deny you entry. Enjoy your visit. Allison
