I honestly do not understand the process how some get the visa in a blink if an eye and others have to endure hell and back with hopes of obtaining a visa. I really hope protocol and new processed are enforced to make it equal for every application
Hi all..after almost 12 months to the day in Havana ( and 3 weeks after a new police check was submitted), i was emailed this afternoon advising me that my husband needs to report to the embassay next Wednesday at 830 AM with his passport and two photos for possible visa issuance. We are so happy!!!
I used a lawyer and everything was in order. We are 10 years apart I was with my wife in Cuba for the majority of the year spent a lot of time together and paid thousands in communication when we weren't together. I don't know what exactly they look at but we got are fasts sorry for those who had to wait for a long time because I was just as stressed with the process as the next person but it just ended quicker for whatever reason.

Congrats!! ) I hope I hear something this week. I am in a similar situation to you. I spent a lot of time with my husband (majority of one year) and found that my application is being processed pretty fast.

We got our email March 11 from Havana. They asked us to come next Wednesday with the passport and two visa photos. So happy...i wish everyone all the best.
Applied: October 2015.
Received by CIC: January 7, 2016.
Application for sponsor approved: January 29, 2016.
Started processing in Havana: February 5, 2016.
Havana made communications with ( March 3, 2016) me regarding some more documents. (Police record contract, my son's Canadian citizenship - proof of payment, canadian passport and proof of $490.
March 11, 2016 - Received email for issuing of visa.
The conclusion is pretty simple, in Havana you end up either in heaven with a 2-4 months decision or in hell on a interview list. There's no really a gray area...It looks like they want us to wait at least for 10 months before they acknowledge that our file even exists. It took us another 4 months just to have the file transferred from Mississauga, its an awful experience. I forgot the number of trips to Cuba and the amount of money spent (more than 70K) but I definitely remember the frustration. Our family life is a playdough in their hands and they do whatever they want with it and once in a while, just for fun, they delay the interview to make the applicant go over the 15 months with the medical to have a new one done. This way they can add another couple of months to the ordeal. Anyway, it is what it is... I already asked on the forum if there's anybody with the file transferred to Havana in April and only Europeo answered. Is there anybody from May? Good luck everyone!
