I’m sure you’ll hear from them soon, mine was 3 days short of 21 months when they issued AIP, I was so stressed when I talked to an agent on October 30th & they told me my file was just assigned to a new officer on October 18th & no stages were passed. Maybe that officer was the deciding officer, I’m not sure.
When file get transferred to Niagra office, that means your application was approved in principle (AIP) and Niagra office request documents to finish processing of your PR. Niagra is the office that handles second stage. I suggest you to call IRCC on Tuesday to confirm.
thank you so much for responding. I totally understand, Ive been there for a decade. Wish govt could tell us what we are doing after 10 years of super visas! then what?? Nowhere you can find answers and minister never talks about what will happen after super visas expire. How do you want me to convince visa officer that my parents have ties back home after living here 7 years. No chance second super visa will be approved. So whats the plan? you can only have parents visit you for 10 years and after that let them go back and die alone? they wont even allow them back to visit
Refusal letter doesn’t say anything about restoration. His status already expired in Sept so I dont know if he can apply for restoration it’s very tricky.
Sadly government has confused people by allowing parents to visit for such long periods of time and giving extensions easily (this may change). The supervisa program was never meant for parents to permanently relocate to Canada which should have been stressed. Now you have many families who viewed this as a permanent move discovering it was not. Canada should be upfront with the reality that many will never be able to sponsor their parents so people can make informed decisions about immigration. Like international students many parents will find there is no pathways to remain in Canada legally.
