We had a wedding ceremony in dec 2014 with just us two but it wasn't legal as we just didn't bother. We got married in Bali and didn't want to go through the paperwork. We are having a wedding party next weekend in Ontario to celebrate with our families. Last Friday, we got legally married at city hall.
We didn't tell our case officer about Bali and I'm realizing we should have. We do want to tell him/her about our legal wedding.
The only problem is that we are now 'in process' on ECAS. Will informing them now add time and problems? Should we tell them?
Also, can I scan everything and send it by email or must it be mail?
edit: also we don't have the marriage cert yet. that will take a while.
I wouldn't bother unless they ask for further proof. However I have to wonder what did you show for wedding pictures and what not, if that was your ceremony? You could also add the extra info when you send in your wedding certificate and say you forgot to include the pictures from your Bali ceremony.

Whoops sorry, ya I skipped over the first line, sending proof of your common-law relationship (Bali ceremony) when you are already married seems like it might be misrepresentation, you are supposed to report any changes like this to CIC. I am not really sure of the process here but someone else should know hopefully.
If they make you send in your marriage information then I would add the extra proof, but don't just send it as common-law proof without reporting the changes.

yea, we never sent any pics of the ceremony in bali as it happened after our application.
As far as I know, we are required to legally tell them we are married. I would be quite happy just to keep it a common law app as I think we have a strong app. However, if we have to, we will. I'm just wondering, how cut and dry that is.
