I have a question, my bf is with me right now in Canada and will be receiving his passport from Buffalo NY soon with his visa.
However, he must "land", we live an hour away from the Canada/USA border.
Q: Will we have problems going into the USA to just turn around and go to the Canadian border?
I mean I wouldn't mind spending some time in the USA, like a couple of hours but regardless of the time we spend there we'll be heading back home to Canada in the evening.
I don't want the USA to refuse us entry and have us go back to the border, that's bad on the record.
They don't "refuse" you entry if you don't actually want to cross over. Just tell them you are not entering the US, you just want to land as a PR in Canada/flagpole and they will turn you back to Canadian immigration. No record will be made of this, because you never actually attempted to enter the US. Most of these border agents are familiar with flagpoling, especially if you are going to a popular crossing.
Or, you can hop across the border, do some shopping/sightseeing, and land at the end of the day when you return.
