Going to Canada with TRV while PR under process

Our PR application is currently under process, about 6 months in, and my wife (the PA) has a TRV. We're thinking of waiting out the remainder of the process in Canada, we currently both live abroad. Does anyone foresee any issues with this? My wife will stay there 6 months at a time and if need be go back to her home country and return if and when the time comes. Process wise, is this fine, or are there any issues people foresee? I'd move to Canada too in the near future although my wife will likely go first and stay with my relatives.

if she already has the visa, definitely go for it! it's best for her to have a return ticket, to act as a visitor and not bring all her worldly posessions. once she's in, she'll be able to apply to extend her stay as a visitor and stay for the process. PR applicants are rarely denied extension.

The visit visa (TRV?) she has is for the duration of her passport, so we have quite a while left on that. I'm anticipating we will hear back anyway within the first 6 months, but if we don't for whatever reason, she can extend the stay without having to leave the country, is that what you mean?

We don't want to do anything wrong; if we go together with me moving there permanently, would my wife be questioned? We're more than happy to provide return tickets and if she needs to return to her home country, she will always be staying with her family.

yes, that's right. you would apply online through CIC and she can stay there for as long as she is given - it is normal for people to ask for 12+ months. she would not have to leave.

this could potentially raise questions at immigration and trigger a secondary inspection. this is why her having a return ticket and other ties to her country are helpful. ties they like to see are letters of employment, lease/mortgage papers, etc. a copy of the PR application and receipts are useful too. also, its good to make it clear that the large items you are resettling with and she only has a small amount normal for a visit. each entry and visa officer is unique, so no one can tell you 100% what will happen. just be prepared and tell the truth. sometimes in situations like these, they give out a visitor's record to limit the stay. once she's in, you can still apply to extend her stay. you may just have to do it sooner than later.
