Hi,
I have a friend in the Philippines that I would like to help out.
I am offering to pay for her tuition and of course room and board "she can stay with me while going to school"
If I pay for tuition and offer room and board along with some day to day expenses etc.
She has no money in the Philippines I would just like to give her the opportunity to get some education here in Canada as well as me benifiting a little by learning the Philipine culture.
Will the Canadian gov have an issue with this?
I would of course provide return airfair.
Woulld she be able to also get a work permit so she get get a part time job to suppliment her stay.
Thanks in advance. For any advise on how to go about this.
If she's approved a study visa, she could work on campus or obtain a off campus work permit after six months of studies. It would allow her to work 20 hours a week.
Are you related to this person at all? I'm not an immigration expert by any means, but that situation sounds weird... Sorry.... I believe she has to show she or her parents have funds in the bank - in their/her name - in order for her to study here.
It does say the parents/student must have the funds for the program. Students must submit proof of funds in their account (or one with parents) when they apply for the study permit. I'm not saying you couldn't help your friend, but you would have to give her a large amount of funds with no guarantee the study permit would be approved...... not to mention you'd need to have 110% trust in this person..... eek!
Perhaps first she should see if she's eligible at any universities. She can't even begin to apply until she's accepted at a university.
