Getting a lawyer to check over documents

Hey Shawn - do you have the number of the CIC hotline? I can't find it anywhere...have a few questions and just not getting the answers on here.

Ok, I don't mean to sound rude, but it's in one of the first pages of the guide! Not good that you don't know where this is, as I said, read the guide page for page and almost EVERYTHING except a few small minor details that would need clarification. Each form has it's own specific area of the guides to assist in filling out things correctly.

When you call the number there will be no option to select operator... Press 1 for English and then press '0' three times, each time giving you selection error.. It will then forward you to hold and if it says busy, it's because cue is full. Keep trying over and over until you are put on hold. It takes a few times to accomplish this.

If you are not the type to pay attention to details, then a lawyer may be benificial for you. Again I don't mean to be rude, but factual. Having a lawyer isn't going to change anything, which also is said in the guide. If your case is straight forward, a lawyer is useless and can also make mistakes as another member has mentioned. YOU are the best person to care for EVERY detail because it is your relationship on the line.

Thanks Shawn - no offense taken....I've read the guide about 50 times but at the moment our living room is covered with papers so finding the right one - not so easy.

And much better to ask somebody who can point it out straight away than for me to get myself all worked up because I can't find it

We've got immigration lawyers in Vancouver already who have been super helpful. Mostly for silly little questions and pointing out the little things like accidentally putting the day then month instead of the other way around.....personally I'd rather pay the extra bucks and be spot on.
