We finished landing (flagpole on US border) on March 15 and became PR. After self-isolation, Service Canada is closed and could not get the new SIN number.
*Is there someone who applied SIN after Service Canada closed? Service Canada web site says that they accept only urgent applications.
*Can we use our old expired sin numbers (Starts with 9), which are already expired awhile ago, till everything backs to normal?

Just applied for a post-grad work permit and have implied status here. I have an expired 900 number SIN and i need to work. Sent in a SIN online application (only that and mail applications are available right now) last week. No estimation at all for how long the application will take, and they're not answering the phone hotline or the online inquiry that i sent.
Not eligible for financial aid and I don't know if I can use my expired SIN number right now for work. Not sure what to do, not sure what to expect.

I saw that... Can I ask how it is that you know that? I just really don't want to be given a job offer but turned down because the number is expired. I haven't read anything about the expired numbers anywhere.

Employers can't tell if a SIN is expired. They are required to verify that a person has a permit authorizing them to work. As long as a person has the right to work, the employer will accept the SIN. The issue you will face is that some employers don't understand Implied Status and may not hire you because of that.
Till 9th it was available to apply online. From 6 th to 9 th it was available. Now they have removed applying online temporary. Just wait for them to open again.
