I have been reading a lot about GCMS notes, I already ordered my husbands. I am Canadian but I live with my husband in Egypt. I requested the GMCS notes April 29th, I am wondering do I have to be in Canada physically to be able to get the notes. I don't see why it matters if I ordered them online and requested them by email? I have been reading about people saying you have to be in Canada after I already ordered them. Is this true?

Did you pay 5 dollars for it? If yes, that's Access to Information Act, and you can apply for it without being required to live in Canada. I believe the Privacy Act requires the person to be living in Canada.
I have seen a number of different interpretation to this. My own interpretation is that the information requested is about a person who is not yet a PR and therefore not living in Canada, the notes must be applied under Access to Information Act, even though the information must be applied by a Canadian Citizen or PR. Let's say the person becomes PR, and needs GCMS notes (say for citizenship application instead of family sponsorship), he or she can apply under Privacy Act.
