Keep faith . all is going to be well. I think its a genuine mistake and could have been done by anyone. The good part is. Visa office field is an optional field. There is a chance that they might not bother it and forward it to cop-o if you pass evaluation. Till than, do not get depressed. It's is one of those mistakes that cannot cost you rejection.
I have just mailed CIC about this. I have sent my fedex tracking number also for them to locate my application easily. Let's wait and see.

I haven't left it blank. I chose a wrong one. I have already e-mailed and faxed them with my bar code and a letter to correct the visa office but haven't heard anything from them yet.

There was a case similar to this (can't recollect) where it was return, the visa office field was blank
Contacting them at this time very difficult as they will b flooded with applications

You can only request a correction, as what you have already done. In my opinion it is not at all a great mistake. The CIO staff know that your FSW application will not be handled by NY office and being you are a US resident, they would correct the VO to CPP-O, even without your request. But, there is little chance for the negative side also because we can imagine about the very high volume of incoming applications to CIO. Those CIO personnel, sorting out the applications may get mad even with negligible errors. Be positive and pray.
I have just received a reply from CIO Sydney. The person who wrote it probably didn't even go through my email completely! He has just left me this link after wishing me a good afternoon!!
