That thread is ancient. The admins have all since passed away.
What’s the current backlog of PNP? I’m wondering if IRCC made this a policy to prioritize pnp backlog. There can’t be too many in progress applications for pnp
Not official, but they are prioritizing PNP.

This kind of shit happens in arranged marriages 99% of the time.
100% disagree. Arranged marriages are "arranged" and not forced. Basically, arranged marriages skip the entire drama filled bullshit dating fest and make-up break-up re-make-up things that happens in so called "social life". Women/men agreeing to go via this route are willing to marry rather than play the tryouts for eternity. Oh, did I mention there are these kind of "love" marriages too...

Oh wow. Didn’t think there would be that many PNP apps but perhaps that’s due to the continued draws and slow processing. QSW backlog is also huge but they seem to be behind even FSWs priority wise.
If it happens, it will be an all program draw.

Aren’t most arranged marriages done in the subcontinent without the pair knowing anything about each other? For a female, she actually gets married to her husband’s entire family and any independent decision making is close to impossible.

Holy fuck these numbers are depressing

It used to be like that. Nowadays, we talk with each other for weeks and then take decisions. Basically, its a dating with Parent's approval.

seems like IRCC has forgotten about the meaning of “Express Entry”. Almost all other streams are being priotized except express entry which is slow as fuck.

No, typically this is what happens.
Family ie mother and/or father initiate with their counter parts. If not outright reject then, they let their children talk to each other for some time and come to a decision. If they decide, then marriage can proceed. Either party can veto. I personally like the time-boxed decision part. It weeds out non-serious parties.
In subcontinent, you are always married to the whole family -- male side and female side both. No matter the modality. All males in subcontinent are mamma's boys at some level and almost all of the males want their parents to live with them. It does not matter if you marry by dating or marry by arrangement done by family, you will end up marrying the entire family.

The parents approval part is what I don’t understand. Why do u need anyones approval to pick a partner u want to spend ur life with?

This model is outdated and not suitable for modern day societyI suppose. Not that long term relationships and dating is any better but I’ve seen a lot of arranged marriages ending up in divorce.

Nope. In India arranged marriages are more successful than love marraiges.

Vancouver 3 million dollar houses disagree with you. This model is more and more apt for modern day society where real estate prices are going through the roof!
Tell me which one will you like to live as your "house mates"; your spouse's parents OR some random folks who could sublet the their portion of house to another people who will then AirBnB a bunch of junkies.... imagine waking up with weirdos in the kitchen. As shared ownership of houses is going to become an urban reality (it is already there in toronto and vancouver) you will have to choose between sharing your house with strangers or living in a 200 sqft shoebox in the sky... I will rather live with my parents in their 2500 Sqft house as two generation in one house.
Naturally, marrying with their involvement will keep me and my wife happier with them...

Divorces in marriages are more of a function of how much both parties can not compromise.. There are things which simply do not work for either side. And sometimes, reasons like "living together for our kids" feel downright disgraceful to them.. that ends up in a divorce...
Good thing with arrangement marriage setup is that it allows external parties like parents to intervene. It can go south as well... but often years of experience helps.
