I dunno, when Russia annexed Crimea a few years back everybody thought it was just fooling around. Fast forward to today, Russia still controls Crimea.

Maybe I am wrong but you will see it The only thing that Russia can do now is just to scare the western nations that they will attack Ukraine they have nothing else to play with apart of Gas, Fuel and military actions. They just want to be re-assured that NATO will not enforce the Eastern parts of EU towards Russia. There were already talks about it and Biden actually agreed on some parts of it.

It depends where's the 50/50 at, de facto it belongs to Russia, de jure the world believes that it still a part of Ukraine, much like how most of the world believes Taiwan does not exist as an independent sovereign nation.

Exactly, but normally you have to wait until the contract is up. I recall one of my officemates where the landlord had to wait for the expiry of the contract before doing the renovation, and charging them a new rate afterwards. It seems kind of unfair, if for example you have a 12-month contract, move all your stuff in, then after 2 months the landlord is going to say, I have to do some renovating for 2 weeks you have to get out. Now you're scrambling to find a new place where you can put all your stuff in.

Mostly it is happening with private landlords. Now what we are seeing is inverstment companies coming over and taking over the whole market where normal people could buy properties, now they cannot, because these investement companies are willing to buy off the whole estate, very often giving more what the asking price is
