India is a fascinating country. What language do you use as a communication medium when you travel to states where they speak languages you are not familiar with? English or Hindi?
Frankly, except in southern states, most can speak/converse in Hindi. Correct me if I am wrong. Because even as an Indian, that's what I believe is true. South Indians don't have a common language but they speak English. It's a crazy world in India. Not an easy place to rule but a great place to have been born in. Because you will grow in a multi-cultural world.

*Ahem* Common second language spoken by less than 10% of Indians. Its more like English is language-which-is-least-likely-to-offend-other-party. So we all get along.

Depends. If you stick of the metros, right. Go to tier-2 cities and it becomes an issue pretty fast. When I was in Hyderabad, English, Hindi and "Naku Teliyadu" was enough. I went to Vijaywada and fun starts.
