Last I read, they had processed some 6000 Afghan refugees in the entire month and a half. Since the past week alone they have processed over 4000 Ukraining applications.

Read into that however you will.

Those 4000 people had probably already applied way before the war because people are busy trying to save their lives right now and I highly doubt they have access to the tools to make a complete application. In other words, IRCC picked up 4000 Ukrainian files from the backlog and showed the world how they saved Ukraine.

folks stuck in kharkiv and sumi will be removed via Russian border by rus military. Russia said they will create an exit plan and a safe passage for them. The Embassy officials just need to be at the border on time to collect them all.

The problem is the Indian embassy. They are not available. They don't pick up calls or answer questions. Few Indian students had to seek Pakistan embassy help today.

The Indian media is busy celebrating small victories. There are 20,000 students and the government has brought back a few hundred only (maybe a couple of thousands as of now). Just heard that my old neighbor's grandkid reached India safely from Ukraine. I will post his experience here soon.

I don't know the answer for the first one but why don't you just try pet sitting for a week while someone is on holiday? You can get the feeling and you can estimate the amount of responsibility a pet requires.
