Its Japan all over again. Everyone and their mother NEEDs to live in Tokyo or Osaka. House prices are SKY high. Home ownership is desired to have kids. By the time a couple buys a home, there are fertility or stress related issues = no kids = not enough people to take the burden of old.
Fortunately for Canada, they can import people... for now that is.
My own kid has signs of autism (though he is doing okay, we got him checked out). I believe it is due the fact that we had him in our 30s. Autism is fairly common around here.
It all depends what you are doing. I mean we cannot blame someone that his job is paying him XXX XXX $ - most peopel are working hard before they will reach that level. Nothing is impossible, you just have to work hard for it and stop saying that I will never be able to have this or this.
Actually post Eastern Bloc people tend to be hard working folks so most of us will get by. We have relatives in Australia they told us that locals are well.. not the most hard working people (politically correct phrasing) so us post Eastern Bloc people can actually accelerate our career if we keep delivering the same standard of work we did at home.
There is no other reason -- if there can be one. None of our families have one single case of Autism. We got genetic testing done. Its clear. Its either a mutation or our age or may be stress.

Autism is genetic. It may not be inherited, but it is genetic. Age can play a big role in this because as our bodies get old genetic errors happen more often
Devil knows! between Canadian immigration, job search and settling here, there could be a lot of stress for a person. Not to mention, pregnancy was one from hell. She was not able to keep one morsel of food or a mouth full of water down for almost 7 months.
