There isn't, but it seems that if the government can, they will definitely keep this for a few months atleast till they have a sufficient population vaccinated which is happening very slow in Canada right now.
However, there are some lawsuits and some reports about sexual assaults at quarantine centres. This might jeopardize their plans.
Assault was in an isolation centre. Unfortunately similar things happen in every hotel. Not blaming the victim but people should ask to see ID through the peep hole. That should prevent the majority of assaults.
Wow I suppose someone must be paying you to say this.
Ok to your point, if someone doesnt book the hotel they can be fined at the airport and then escorted to the hotel. If I can prove my due deligence in trying to call the line with the best of my efforts, I will be awarded justice. If not I will pay the fine and pay for the hotel as well.
This is such a nightmare situation that keyboard warriors would never understand.
Many in Canada have been on lockdown for a long time and ,many businesses are now closed. Nobody in Canada wants a 3rd wave and many have wanted these measures for a long time. Residents of Canada want to go back to a somewhat normal life because people have been able to fly in and often visit family while people living in Canada haven't been able to visit their Canadian family.

Actually I read about one more sexual assault by a private security hired to check the 14 day quarantine(at home) of one of the passengers. So there are 2 now and hence all over the internet. How are local news covering there and what is the common sentiment from locals in Canada about these quarantine measures?

I never said it isn't covered. I infact read the same article.
I was asking how is the local sentiment there about all the controversies around this 3 day quarantine? Do the government have support?

These all unrelated to the new hotel quarantine program. Unfortunately there are bad people everywhere and the proper protocol would be that 2 security officers should come to a huge which minimizes some of the risk.
Hey, a friend of mine arrived successfully into Canada yesterday. Here is what he told me:
When he arrived the usual procedure, those with the pre-booked hotel to one lane, those without to another (I don't know how they were able to board tho but I haven't checked latest news the last days).
Document check went smoothly, questions about why did yhe come to Canada? Why did he decide to study mentioned program?
Question about his quarantine plan as he booked a room with shared bathroom in a 2 bedroom condo how he would avoid contact to the other person.
He said he would clean deeply and sanitize the bathroom after every use (because he just mentioned in his quarantine plan it's a 2 bedroom condo) and in the end he passed easily. He had the fear of getting his quarantine plan rejected and needing to go to this facility.
So apparently you can share an apartment with another person if you clearly state how you avoid contact. But I would not risk sharing with more than ONE other person. The safest bet is anyways a room with a private bathroom. So he got everything stamped and waited for some people to get into the shuttle bus to get driven to the hotel.
He is at Fairfield Marriotts. He said it takes some time to get thorugh to the reception but it's getting better. I think they have it sorted out a bit better than the last days (what I read).
And also another thing: He paid with his dad's credit card and the lady on the phone said he needed a form to fill out and get it signed by his dad that he can use for the stay. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to check in. But fact is, upon arrival, nobody asked him for the form of consent.
So guys, that's it. I will travel in 2 weeks and I've also booked a shared accomodation with another person
Booked Four points, total cost $1089. This the cheapest I could get from 4th March through 7th. The lady clearly said they could book only if your flight is within next two weeks.
Phone call 3 times (hung up after 2h 30 minutes). skype first call hung up after 3h 02 minutes and got lucky in second call. Wait time was 3h 02 minutes.
Guys don't give up, just start a call and come back after 3h.
Good luck.

Don't stress out much. The choice of hotel is sorta not in your hands. Just ask them best deal and believe me nobody (including you) wanna hung up after several trials and long waiting time.
Just ask the person who picks the call and he/she will provide you with the best deals.
