Well then i guess you'll have to keep trying the phone number. Many have got through after 3 hours of wait and multiple tries. Keep trying friend.

Try to call directly the listed hotel you are interested. As of yesterday, some of the hotels are allowing to book directly to them if your flight is within 48hours. So far Radisson from Vancouver and Hilton from Toronto confirmed this. Good luck!

Nice but we connecting flight travellers have no choice other than booking the accommodation through the line.
Can't risk getting stranded over a 900$ hotel reservation. Guess the hotels not being on the list will be minimum in the 600$ range for 3 days in the future.

Pretty sure some airlines will pass on rules in the future regarding boarding without a reservation though. Maybe since you are travelling from the US it's not that of a big deal.

Suggest people to have their money ready for quarantine even if they did not manage to book the hotel through the line.
It's unclear whether it will be free or will cost money but either way in the upcoming weeks the government clearly plans to make everyone pay.

So far only @blackrabbitqueen is the only source who travelled from the US seems to have a different story and it's still vital that you book a hotel through the line. What applies to one may not apply to another.

i tried booking from the Doubletree by Hilton hotel today and he just gave me the confirmation number and he was telling me the email address but the call got disconnected. does it happen ?

Sometimes it may be not practical don't get carried away by the posts here. It's still hard to get a reservation. Good luck.

You can’t book through the hotel. You must call using the government approved phone lines.

Even if someone finds a way to influence the hotel it's not practical at all to board within 48 hours and convince the officer. My card will be only swiped when I show up at the hotel despite booking through the phone line and can change my decision any time. Pretty satisfied.

What confirmation ? If you didn't get the HRG number it doesn't count and wont be considered for ArriveCan or by the officer.

The travel counsellor clearly told me to write this important number down in a piece of paper since its the sole proof of booking through the government and it must be uploaded onto the ArriveCan before boarding the plane and shown during the evaluation by the officer.


Suggest ones travelling to Vancouver to not book any reservation since the hotels are very expensive ( 2000$) .
Rather pay it as a fine to the officer and skip it all.

The airlines won’t even allow you board the plane, if you don’t have the 3-day mandatory hotel stopover.
