Seriously. I've been pleasantly surprised by how friendly and helpful people are up here, how they try to work with me as I stumble along in broken French. Individually, people tend be pretty nice and encouraging of me learning French. On a grand scale, however, the politics can be repulsive at times.

Many Quebecers are fine people, very friendly. The key thing is for them is you try to learn the language and their culture. If they see you stumbling around, they appreciate that you are at least putting in effort to speak French. But when you see groups like the PQ and Bloc and how over the top they get with their policies, it make it hard to swallow and you gives you a negative feeling about the direction of Quebec sometimes...

Yeah hun, my husband's is in limbo. We made a leap of faith and came to Canada right before the strike happened. 5 months into his visitor visa and still no visa. We applied in September of 2012, I was accepted as his sponsor in November 2012. Ever since then we have been waiting. We are very stressed.

With me and my wife, it also is like that. We got the sponsorship thing out of the way, but now we are waiting on her PR visa to come through....not sure how long this whole thing is going to take (we applied for it about 6 months ago....) but we are waiting it out in Korea, not Canada. Can't take the chance of going there right now and then being rejected for entry.
