There are officers who are watching the people to make sure that they say the oath. And at the beginning of the ceremony, we were told by the MC that not repeating the oath will stop you from being a citizen.

To be on the safe side, repeat the oath out loud (i.e. you should be audible, such that if someone was walking past, they can hear the words you speak). It's a day to be proud.
