My study permit and my wife's SOWP is expiring in two months. my father in law diagnosed with last stage cancer few weeks back.. we want to travel India and don't know how long..
Can i go to us Canada border for extending both the permit with my university letter, financial documents.would border security help extending our permits?
Is there anyone having experience of study permit extension at the border or knowledge about it? Any kind of help will be appreciated.

When does your study permit expire? A requirement of a study permit is that you be actively pursuing your studies in Canada. As you plan to leave and continue your studies at home or put your studies on hold, you don't really qualify.

it expires on 28th of march.. for now i am planning to come back end of february. I am not concerned about my study permit as i can be here before the expiry for sure. It is just my wife's work permit i am worried about since i dont when she will be able to come back.. He she gets the extended work permit then she can come whenever she want.

That is still over 3 months away, so pretty early to be extending, especially when you are leaving Canada. I doubt CBSA would issue you new permits in this situation.
If your wife is unable to return before expiry, she can apply for a new permit.

Hello
These documents would be enough and if you are applying online it gives checklist of documents which have to be submit i suggest you to apply asap because average processing time is more then 3 months if you are applying with spouse website shows 68 days but its more than that.
