1. Leaving Canada... entering US as a visitor... (by land)... spending sometime in US (less than a day) and returning back to Canada to land as PR (say, changing status from work permit to PR)
2. Turning back in the middle near the border (which we can do at "queenston lewiston bridge" - Ontario, there is a separate lane to take a U-turn towards Canada) without entering into USA to do a flagpole.
Can anyone let me know which is the better way to do? My option is 1... correct me if I am wrong.

I thought that taking a U turn is no longer allowed. You have to go to the US border, and if dont have a US visa, get a letter that states you didn't get entry and then come back to the Canadian border with that letter.
