Hi i got a passport request from Seattle on July 9th but at the same time my working permit expired plus i got rejection from LMO .
anyways i applied for visitor permit on June 30th which is just a week before my work permit expire. so technically, i am in implied status. i am trying to leave Canada as soon as possible when i got COPR visa. do you think is there a problem without valid visa? actually i am visa exempt country. any suggestion?
Pouce - congratulations, at long last! Yes, we applied at the same time, so sorry it took yours so long! Seattle...
when you land, just bring proof that you applied for your temporary resident visa before your work permit expired.
(BTW, you are not on "implied status" since you are changing status from worker to visitor. I'm sure you know you cannot work until you land as a PR...)
Thanks Jes_ON,
finally, my application was approved. it was nightmare when my LMO was rejected. My boss and I was going to apply PNP to get work permit. after PGWP there isn't any problem to renew, but for next one, LMO was pretty picky and my boss fought over the phone, but higher power controls in this world eh. then we asked MP to help and it worked. anyways, i am a LIMBO right now. i have to feed my wife, pay my mortgage, pay my bill, fill the gas etc. life is not that easy eh?
i just was to say thank you for this website!

You're fine. Once you get your COPR, you can land - and you can either do it inland (schedule an appointment) or at the border (if you are close to the US border, just drive down and flag pole as it's quite common). What you cannot do is WORK until you land, because you do not have legal status to work. Once you land, you can legally work and you don't need an LMO or a work permit.
