Few questions about spouse sponsorship

Hi all,

I received my PPR in May 2022 and I haven't been to Canada yet. I plan to move there this month, I also plan to get married to my fiancé at the end of January so I will sponsor her after that. I have a few questions

1. The current time frame to receiving PR card is 63 days as per IRCC. If I haven't received my PR card by Jan and I have to come back to my home country for the wedding, how easy it is to obtain PRTD and how long does it usually take?
2. I also plan on inviting my spouse on a visitor visa once we're married. What are the chances of rejection for a visitor visa?
3. I will start looking for work soon as I am in Canada but if I do not get a job I should still be able to sponsor my spouse given I demonstrate how I plan to support both of us. Has anyone sponsored someone without a job? Is it hard?

Not particularly difficult but timeframes depend on local office.

Not useful to estimate - call it 50/50 if you want. Might consider applying before the marriage. At any rate, 100% of those who do not apply are not given visitor visas.

They will want to see a plan to support. Employment certainly helps. If you cannot, apply and provide info about employment during the process.

Would attempt to get a TRV before marriage because chances will decrease significantly after marriage. Chances of getting TRV will depend on employment, property ownership, savings, previous travel history especially to countries like US, UK, Australia, etc. Your best option would be to get married now before COPR expires and add her to your PR application. There will be a delay before coming to Canada but that would ensure that both of you could arrive together. If from India PRTDs were taking up to a few months given huge backlogs at the local offices. In general would plan for a few months and if you get the PRTD faster that is great. You shouldn’t purchase a flight until you have the PRTD. Sponsoring a spouse takes time so you can update your file once you’ve found employment in Canada.

thanks for your response. After considering all things, I believe I am better off getting married now and adding my spouse to my file now since the sponsorship route is not only expensive but also time consuming.

And make sure that you wait till a new COPR is issue for both you and your spouse before you try to land in Canada.
