Hi,

I submitted online application for visitors visa on friday and today I got an email from cic to send them the passport . I am in US. Can I send my passport to New York?

On the cic site they are requesting:

1) Passport
2)The passport request letter you received from CIC
3)Any applicable VAC fees, such as passport transmission fees
4)Full contact information, including a phone number and your full return address
5)The VAC consent form (PDF, 18 KB)
6) A pre-paid return courier envelope, if applicable

I think I need to send 1) , 2 ) 4) and 6) .


What about 3) and 5). Do i need to send them?

Yes you need to send 3 and 5 since you are sending your passport to New York VAC.
You can't send your passport directly to NY consulate,

I called new york vac and they said to send the original passport there. I have seen ppl sending to consular. Am i missing something?

NY consulate is no longer stamping visas
You need to send your passport to NY VAC
