I had my citizenship ceremony at the Scarborough Chinese Cultural Centre this past Thursday (Nov. 7). It was lovely, and the judge was really funny too. As a gift they gave all of us access to an app that allows you to go to different museums for free for a year, so today I went to Casa Loma (I've lived in Toronto since 2008 and had never been).
The judge told us to wait until Tuesday to apply for passports, since Monday is a federal holiday and we would probably not be in the system until Tuesday, but I'm flying abroad on Wednesday evening, so I checked ECAS the morning after my ceremony (Friday) and I already appeared as "Complete", so I went to the passport office on Victoria St. right away and my passport will be ready Wednesday morning (I applied with Express pick up).
I just wanted to thank the moderators for maintaining the spreadsheet, it was a really useful resource, and also everyone in this forum who answered questions and shared their experiences. For those of you who are still waiting, keep your spirits up, and I hope you will all soon be Canadians too!
Does anyone know why the time frame between test date, decision made, and oath is so long for some and not others? I see people who who took their test months ago still waiting.
My test is tomorrow, but I want to travel for 2-3 months starting end of november, or just asap! I cant imagine sitting here in winter waiting for an update for months
