I finally got my PPR tonight!! Was discussing with a friend how worried I was about not hearing back from CIC. 10 minutes later I get the email!! finally... Now how long to usually send the passport back once they receive it?

Hi All,

I am in a delicate situation.

I am under closed work permit and l have lost my job recently.
I have couple of job offers in hand but cannot work for them since I do not have an open work permit.

I can apply for bridge permit in April 2015 since my closed work permit expires in August 2015.

My status still shows application received on February 17th 2014 and I have completed 11 months and no signs of progress.

I have placed a request for GCMS notes but I guess it will take more than 30 days to respond and there is no other way to contact Ottawa office about CEC application (which causes more anguish! !)


However, I feel that Canadian immigration office will take further time to process my application.
Therefore, I think it is better to find an opportunity out of Canada

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Sure -

-They got my application on 4th feb 2014

- They asked for my police reports on august 21 2014 (i sent them the very next day as i had them ready). they confirmed they received it.

- Applied for gcms notes on nov 8th 2014, recieved them on dec 8th 2014.
notes said that my NOA and T4 were missing so they could not confirm my experience and my application needed to be reviewed again. So the next day on 9th of december i emailed them both NOA and T4. I got the automated response, but did not get a personalized response.

And today i received MR.

yeah ,you did right, officer would like to see clear document package that they do not need to think to much. I guess

My WP is expiring tomorrow , and I have send passports for COPR to CIC.
What should I consider my status from Wednesday onwards , DO I still need to go for Open WP?

^ I think you need to call CIC for this. Call them as soon as you can. Congrats on your PPR!

Call CIC and ask about it, you can also go to the nearest local immigration office who can guide you on your status
You should email to the office where you submitted your passport to process fast for returning your CO PR, even though you dont have enough time to land. You may have problem.
Its better to apply for another BOWP. But please call CIC.

As per the rules, you can stay in Canada but can't work. If you want to continue at work during this period then apply for the work permit.

I just checked our online Application Status on Ecas and it has changed today to "Decision Made". Hopefully that means that our COPR is on its way!
