Hi There - below is my timeline.

Timeline (Outland Spousal - Iran) - VA: Turkey

Application submitted: February 26, 2022
AOR: May 11, 2022
Medical Request: May 18, 2022
Medical Done: May 30, 2022
Biometric Request: May 18, 2022
Biometric Done: June 8, 2022

NO Update since then. PA eligibility and Backgorund has not started yet. I (sponsor) have also recieved eligibility confirmation letter.

Anyone with an update? Why the background check and eligibility of main applicant has not been started yet?

I know two other people along myself who are in the process of sponsoring our partners from Iran.

Our applications are in Ankara, Turkey. We have not heard anything from Ankara since May- June 2022.

Background check takes the longest. Also, keep in mind that they prioritize Turkish applications over Iranians in Ankara. You are well within the timeline.

Check out the "Pr tracker update" thread. That is where myself and the other two people I mentioned regularly communicate.

Also, it says my husband's background check has not started on the PR tracker, but after contacting my MP's Office, they said his criminality (background) is in process. Sometimes it goes from not started- to completed.

If nothing easies your anxiety, contact your MP or order your GMC's notes.

Hey. No. I haven't. It has been confirmed that my husband's criminality is in process. Both his security and eligibility have not started yet.


Did you contact your MP? they can enquire on your behalf and see what stage your application is at.

No I didnot reach out to my MP yet. How did you reach out to your MP? Sendign an email to his/her office? Also, how long it takes to hear back from him/her?

I emailed them. The first MP's office got back to me within 40 minutes. They said they would enquire IRCC on my behalf. They got back to me a few days later and informed me of my husband's criminality (part of background check was indeed in process) which was really cool. They did however, say that my house is in a different region and I should contanct Vance Badawey's office for future enquries. I did just that. Again, it took them a couple of days to get back to me. I am from the Niagara Region. Idk where you live. Some MP's will refuse to enquire IRCC. They will tell you once you have passed the average/processing time, they'll enquire for you but will not do so any time before that.

You can do both. Tell them about the current situation in Iran as well. They may or may not care.

If your S/O is in Iran atm, tell them you are geniuenly worried for their safety. My MP couldn't give a flying f***. But hey, you win some- you loose some.
