Hi,
My dad was born in Quebec in 1914 and became a naturalized US Citizen back in 1923.

I understand that since the new laws went into affect from 2009 and 2015, it seems that I am too a Canadian citizen.

I am filling out the application for proof of citizenship, but do not believe my father actual had a birth certificate, just basically a baptism certificate. That being the case, how else can I prove that my father was born in Canada?

Anyone out there have experience with this situation?

Thanks so much

Did your father lost his British citizenship or renounce it before 1947?
If yes, that he would not be a recognized Canadian.

He never renounced his Canadian citizenship and his family goes back to the 1600s in Canada and before that france

ok from what you say he became USA citizen when he was minor (age of 9 years old). Now how exactly did he become USA citizen? Did his father become USA citizen and because of that he became USA citizen?

You're going to need to order a copy of your father's birth certificate from the Quebec government to use with your proof of citizenship application per the instructions. On the actual form, section 2, question18 asks for name of place where the birth was registered (parish, place of worship, city); so I think this is where you would put the name of the church on the baptism certificate. As an extra measure, I would attach of copy of the baptism certificate with the birth certificate application when you mail it.

Yes that's what I came to realize as well. I found a form on the Quebec site that I'm filling out to order a copy of my dad's birth certificate
It will be a long road though because first I have to order a copy of my birth certificate showing my parents name, and then do the application for proof of citizenship.
I don't mind however because I love Canada and I don't like where the USA is heading
Thanks for the advic
