Hello everyone,
When I applied for the visa, the processing time for Pakistan was 8 weeks but now its 9 weeks. So my question is should I consider 8 weeks as the normal processing time for me or 9 weeks?. As I have received no update I want to send an email query to IRCC. Thanks
Should I book an appointment for medical or do I need to wait for the letter?
There are Eid holidays coming, and my course should start from September. I don't have much time to wait, so is it mandatory to wait for the medical request or one can do it before that?

The thing is you don't know when they will send you a request. If you want you can book for sometime after the Eid Holidays, since the visa office will be open only tomorrow (Thursday) and then it will be also be closed for the Eid Holidays in Abu Dhabi.., So if you don't get a medical request, you can always reschedule it.....

Since SDS just became an option for Pakistani students like a few weeks ago, I would doubt that anyone has applied through it since you need to get the GIC, pay fees which can all take up to 2-3 weeks minimum....
oh my bad, I mis read it. The only thing I know is upfront medical which you do before your submission of your application. I would honestly recommend that you wait for that letter because if you do it before and get that letter after and they don't link it properly (which happened in my upfront medical case and with many others), it will become another hassle for you to get it linked and all.. I know time is of the essence but it might just end up taking more of your time.... For me, It'll be almost a month since my medical was updated to passed and 10 days since I received my biometrics correspondence letter and still no update.....

I applied for study permit on 28th may and medical passed on 13th july but application still shows "background check under process"
what is maximum time for this step? is there anyone going through the same step?
Yes i would also suggest the same as Hassan. DONOT go for medical until you receive the medical request. I am already suffering because of this mistake. Got the medical done first and now since two weeks i am unable to get it linked.
So you just get the appointment and if u get the medical request then go for it otherwise reschedule it.
